Today was all about finding the mean (average) number of leaves on the seedlings. Our little lady had to choose 5 plants at random from each tray, count their leaves, total them up, and then divide by the 5 plants to get a total mean of leaves per plant in that replicate. That was a new maths concept for her and quite a challenging one at that. However, due to the originality of the subject matter for performing the task on (space seeds!), I am hoping she remembers some of what she has learnt today about working out averages.
